Blake Malone is an Australian painter from Sydney, currently living and working in Europe. A graduate of the University of Sydney’s Sydney College of the Arts, his practice centres on a critical approach to painting that questions the role of images, authorship and value in contemporary culture. His work engages with the history and language of painting while drawing from the vast image archive of the internet, treating it as both a democratic resource and a site shaped by late capitalism. 

Malone often shifts techniques and visual approaches between works, deliberately resisting the fixed style or recognisable brand increasingly demanded by the art market. Through this fluid methodology, his paintings explore the tensions between art as a critical form of thought and as a commodified object.  His practice moves between political, historical and personal references, using painting as a way to reflect on the structures that shape contemporary life. Malone has exhibited in Australia and internationally, including exhibitions and residencies across Europe and Asia.
